Data Protection Training
Data Protection Training is a specialized offering within ESET's ECAT human risk management training program, focused on helping learners understand the responsibilities associated with handling sensitive and personally identifiable information (PII). As the training expanded to support French-Canadian learners, the project required more than a direct translation of existing content. Visuals, scenarios, regulatory guidance, and learner-facing language all required review and adaptation to ensure the experience remained relevant, accurate, and authentic for the North American market.
Localization Approach
Prior to this project, I viewed localization primarily as a translation process. Through collaboration with subject matter experts, localization specialists, and native speakers, I learned that effective localization often requires deeper adaptation of content, visuals, scenarios, and regulatory guidance to align with the audience’s context and expectations.
One of the most significant efforts involved revising scenario-based content line by line to ensure the learner experience felt natural in French Canadian rather than simply translated from English. The project reinforced the importance of designing for context, culture, and compliance requirements alongside language itself.

Incorporated regional compliance and regulatory requirements while maintaining instructional consistency
